Two-Year Training Evaluation Documents Leadership Growth and Return on Investment

The Growing Becket Leadership (GBL) program was launched in May 2017 to support current leaders, grow new leaders, and reinforce a culture of leadership throughout Becket Family of Services. Eight training events and a comprehensive array of follow-up activities (including self-assessment tools, development plans and SMART goals, coaching and supervisor support, and leadership email tips) were implemented to achieve 33 leadership competencies. Participants rated the training workshops 4.47 out of 5. The comprehensive evaluation plan documented 5 levels of training impact, including significant positive growth in Becket leaders, their programs and staff with comments such as, “I had a really hard time delegating, I was a micromanager. Now, after attending the leadership training, I empower my team leads. I can leave and trust that things are getting done.’ Also, “This training has had a huge impact on me and the way I approach work, life and different situations in and out of the program. . . . If more people could experience the training, I think more people would feel as empowered and change as I have.’ Using HR data, the evaluation documented a net return on training investment of $127,000 for 7 MA Adult programs, and a 44% drop in staff turnover in the NH Adult program.
